Sophie Zelmani’s new single “Wasted Years” is now available on all platforms!
This track is her unique interpretation of Backyard Babies‘ song “Wasted Years.”
Both Sophie Zelmani and Dregen, the guitarist of Backyard Babies, are currently featured on the popular Swedish TV show Så mycket bättre. This show brings together well-known Swedish artists, who perform each other’s songs in their own style. The artists live together at a farm, share stories, and create unique versions of each other’s hits, offering a fresh take on well-known music across different genres. It’s a celebration of creativity, collaboration, and the diverse musical talents of Sweden!
Sophie on her interpretation of Wasted Years: “I was especially drawn to the melody and the lyrics in the chorus. Then I had to slow down the tempo, play it in waltz time, and add some minor chords to make it feel like mine. Hope you like it!” Lars Halapi, Sophie Zelmani’s producer and guitarist for 30 years, has produced the track and plays all the instruments. His wife, Swedish comedian, actress, and musican Sanna Persson Halápi, provides backing vocals.
“Wasted Years” is the first of three Sophie Zelmani interpretations that will be released every Friday. After Sophie Zelmani’s participation in Så Mycket Bättre, she will embark on a long tour, starting in Tianjin, China, on October 25 and ending in Berlin on May 11.
